Received defective socket

I ordered this socket in August 2021 and tried to install on November 4th. The electrician stated that 2 of the 4 inner wire nuts were spinning and not holding the 6 gauge wire. The electrician said the outlet was defective. This was a highly recommended outlet on Revain and very expensive. Make sure you check the point of sale upon receipt before the return period expires, as happened to me.

Hubbell 14-50R 50A Socket for my 2021 Tesla Y Model

Received this HBL9450A Hubbell 14-50R 50A Socket for my Tesla Y Model August 2021. Very good quality and durable. I don't want to buy a cheap outlet. Also order the square box Hubbell-Raco 8257 and the lid Hubbell 888 Raco. I'm using 6 gauge wire and a 40A circuit breaker. Tesla charging cable only up to 32A. I can upgrade to a 50A circuit breaker if I order a Tesla wall outlet. Charges great.

Rugged design: electric

Bought this NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge an electric vehicle. It's solidly constructed of engineered reinforced plastic (as opposed to everyday plastic) with COPPER (NOT aluminum) clips that grip and hold heavy wire. The clamps are tightened with Allen screws. A huge amount of energy is transferred through it, so I wanted one of the best. You should not save on a high-performance socket. Ask an electrician to install it if you are not qualified. It comes from the USA and was once even…

Industrial grade socket recommended by Tesla.

This is the recommended Tesla connector. It turns out that $10 outlets at a hardware store usually fail because they are designed to be installed behind the stove and plugged into the mains once. If you plug into this outlet frequently, you need to invest in a good industrial-grade outlet. This thing packs a significant weight compared to its cheaper counterparts. However, installation is not an easy task. It's deep, much deeper than the others and with the addition of the deeper mud ring it…

Much better than Leviton

I installed a Leviton 14-50 outlet first. These sockets are cheap and not designed to run 8kW through them for hours. In my car I started throwing an error saying the outlet is heated. I got Tesla to replace the charger and adapter but the error persisted. I emailed my electrician and he insisted it was not an outlet. But of course I researched and got this hubbell jack, I installed it myself. The only difficult part was plugging the wires and socket into the socket, I slowly bent the wires and

High Quality NEMA 14-50 Electric Vehicle Plug

After spending over $50,000 on your Tesla, don't trust your home and car in a cheap Home Depot NEMA 14-50 plug. The problem with cheaper outlets is that the cable attachment isn't as secure and the connectors don't fully mate with the entire plug. This means that cheaper outlets are subject to wear and tear as you plug and unplug them, as well as fire and melting of parts due to the stress of a full charge. Do yourself a huge favor and protect your car and home with this Tesla-approved…

Don't buy a Leviton 14-50 socket for charging electric vehicles!

I bought this Hubbell 14-50 socket after my Leviton melted after two years of charging. The picture of the melted socket is a Leviton 14-50, the new one next to it is a Hubbell 14-50 replacement. A little background. Semi-permanent reinstall using a Leviton 40A 240V wall charger (also a Bosch brand I noticed). The vehicle is a Kia Soul EV+ that draws a maximum of 6.6 kW (just under 30 A) and charges from zero to full (approx. 30 kWh) in four and a half hours. I usually charge my car in two…
