Don't be fooled

The addendum led me to believe this was a heat resistant solder on mat. If so, it would have been great. What it actually is is a piece of homesite board and yes heat resistant we use them in stained glass. You can buy a 4Γ—8 piece at Menards for $22.00. That's what I do. But I was under the impression it was a solder mat. $13.00 for 12x12 big lesson learned

Simple but extremely effective!

Beautiful work surface! My mother was a professional stained glass artist, so I was spoiled by her extravagant art workshop when I was younger. I've recently returned to stained glass and I'm afraid my small one bedroom apartment isn't the ideal setup. Luckily this product saved me from burning the complex or scratching the surface of my desk. It's great for almost any art project, but especially anything heat-related. I only wish

Nice Heat Protection

Don't worry about heat when I use this. It protected my kitchen table just like it should - NO heat transfer to my table. The 12"x12" size is big enough to have room to work, but small enough that you can use multiple boards if you want to work on multiple projects. I haven't noticed any odor when high temperatures hit this surface. I also like the 1/2" lift - your projects are arranged slightly above the table which makes the job all the easier.
