Tool works, nothing special. They sent me one with a broken thread and I had to send it back. So I would recommend just paying the extra $5 into Autozone lest you end up with a broken tool that will set your entire project back for almost a month. Worry about it and I'm just not having any luck with this deal. You'll need an insanely big head to turn the main bolt, so keep that in mind.
I was able to use this to replace the Bilstein shocks on my Tundra but didn't want to rely on it for long. The screws were quite distorted, enough to worry about breaking them. With two of these I was able to get adequate compression on the first damper, but I couldn't get the same compression on the second damper until I used the third compressor. I won't completely rule out operator error (hence the three stars), but I felt the visual distortion was enough to worry.
I bought this compressor to remove and replace the REAR coil springs on a '99 Mustang. Read the description carefully to make sure it's not just coilovers or A-pillars. It turns out that's exactly what it's for. Because the rear was almost unusable because there was no space for compressor clearances. I ended up having to cut the shaft off and make it shorter to make room, and even then it was excruciating. Now they are garbage. Come on, at least it wasn't a lot of money and I was able to get…
