Description of 🌞 SunKnown Portable UV Intensity Meter - Handheld Sunlight Meter for Measuring Harmful UV Solar Radiation - Digital UV Index Sensor & Sunlight Strength Tester

SunKnown UV light meter measures the strength of the sun’s UV rays; It cannot measure the UV light emitted by fluorescent, LED, or tanning bed lights; It does not measure UVC. UV LIGHT PHOTOMETER calculates solar UV Index, combining sun’s UVA and UVB; You can measure the sun's radiations at different hours of the day or on different days. UV RAY DETECTOR & SUNLIGHT INTENSITY CHECKER measures the risk of getting sunburned or exposed to high levels of UV radiations causing cancer. You can use it to check the efficiency of sun protection provided by sunglasses, window glasses, hats, window’s screen or UV filters. SOLAR LIGHT METER is easy to operate; Press the UV Check button to read the UV index from 0 to 12 in 0.5 steps by pointing the UV light sensor towards the sun; Batteries included.

Easy to use and seems accurate

Small and easy to use. Just press a button and adjust the angle for maximum readability. It shows 9.5 on sunny days and 5 or so on cloudy days, which seems right to me. And the counter is very attractively packaged. Setting the time or alarm is tricky but I only use it as a UV meter so it's not a problem for me. I am happy with the counter

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Fairly accurate UV index

I only gave this unit 3 stars because:1 It's a little awkward to set the date, time and alarm.2 You can't turn off the unit when it's off. Fatal error. You must remove the batteries, then all settings will be lost. But it measures ultraviolet rays. Today the UV index here is 10. No clouds. I have a 9.5 meter, but you have to steer carefully. 0.5 I give up.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Power outlet required

Very convenient.

I've been using the UV meter for about a week. Compared to commercial weather services, the meter readings are in the local range. Other reviews say the meter has no on-off control. Mine has this feature, just flip the switch and it turns on and off. The counter is very portable and easy to use. A cloth bag is used to improve usability. All in all a very good product at a very reasonable price.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Batteries last 3 months so far

I was concerned by several comments saying the batteries would only last a couple of weeks. I didn't find that problematic. I bought the unit a few days to 3 months ago and it's still running on the first set of batteries. requires two batteries at a time, each replacement costs $0.99.)

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Will not fit all

How to avoid sunburn as a family

I love being able to check out actual conditions. I just press HOLD and point it at the sun, flipping it over to see the high value. Cloudy foggy sky. UV seems to be 2 to 6, a big difference in sunburn risk. Children don't like sunscreen. I show them the UV number and tell them to have it. Easy to use, just keep it in your pocket. Great for cycling. When the ultraviolet reaches 9.5 or 10, we have to leave the sun. The ad is good. Not complicated. The price is right. Recommend this device.
