The best home server ever handed over

The best home server ever handed over. I modified mine by installing Nocture fans. On the one hand, I don't want it to be a bit wider so I can fit a full-size GPU to test Citrex Xen GPU passthrough.

  • Stylish and modern design

Great home lab server but loud

This server is the perfect home lab server if you can stand some noise and I'm not talking about a dull roar, it is more of a high-pitched screech. The server itself is in such a great form factor that I understand why the cooling needs to be the way it is. I was able to run VMWare with multiple VMs without breaking a sweat. The VMs were medium sized (2 CPUs, 4GB memory each) - only 5 VMs with utilization around 20%. Period of time. If you have a closet or space to put this server that would be

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I don't have any major complaints about it, everything is fine

100% Working: Computer components

I've only recently noticed that 3 of the 4 RAM slots aren't working, I bought it a few months ago which means I can't return it and there is no manufacturer warranty and paying over $700 for an item that doesn't work properly or is not fully functional is a waste of money, I would give 0 stars if I could.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • I'll get back to you later

Great car! Fits computers and accessories

Day 1: Wow! My 1st real server! LAUGH OUT LOUD. Not really. However, for a home virtualization server with running labs and other machines, this is not a problem. Let me thank TinkerTry.com for helping me with this. If you're like me looking for an Intel NUC for your home lab, go for this. Reason: You can increase the RAM, 6 cores, etc. You need such a cheap power plant for the workplace. Let me say a few more words about my specs: I have the recommended RAM modules (Timetec Hynix IC 32GB Kit…

Future router

This is a real beast as a PFsense router. I can move gigabit traffic without breaking a sweat. Given the two 10Gb SFP+ ports, I strongly suspect I can get at least 5-6Gb before problems arise. And you have 6 1G ports that can be used to separate different networks without using VLANs or handling multiple incoming lines. I really wish it came with rackmount ears but I knew before I bought them that they didn't, so it's not a product defect.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • It makes me angry

A+ rating for computer components

It was very hard to be without. A little beast with amazing performance. The reason for my return was to sit next to my desk and their noise bothered me. Will buy again if seller ever delivers a nice unit. Good buying/returning experience from this seller.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Robust box for VM Lab. Supports lots of memory.

This worked fine as an updated VMWare home lab server. It's a small but powerful box, especially since it supports up to 128GB of RAM. So many vendor demos now require 4-8 gigabytes of RAM. Spinning these plus a few test workstations pretty much wrecks virtual 32 gigabit devices. This module enables more complex topologies and test environments. The extra NIC ports come in handy when testing something like 802.1x in a home lab environment. It's not totally silent and you can definitely hear the

Amazing router platform

I used this device to install VyOS for my home router. It's nice to have 6 GigE ports and a few 10GigE ports. Not that I needed 10Gig at home, but still "nice".

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Speed
