Works very well and costs a lot less than big brands! Easy to balance/tune after watching a YouTube video on how to do it. Basically it tells you how many counterweights you need to horizontally balance the camera and the weights. Then move the weights away from the camera as far as necessary so that the swing slows down/softens when you release it. Then make small adjustments to the sides and front/back. My test footage was AMAZING compared to handheld footage. Of course, the only downside to…

Quality Comparable gimbal with cheaper competitive models

Although not electronic stabilization, this camera stabilizer uses gimbal and weight technology to produce smooth footage for large cameras such as DSLRs, camcorders and others. I have used some well known brands of stabilizers that look and work the same as the S40. The quality and performance of the S40 is really on par and perfect for any filmmaker on a tight budget. Keep in mind that it takes some work to get used to these types of gimbals and get smooth footage, but once you get the hang…

This device opens up a whole new world of videography for me

I've had this for 2 weeks now and took it on a family vacation to the Disneyland area. You can still bring it into the park but you'll be stopped by security with lots of questions about what it is. I am a hobbyist/beginner and here is my take on this device. I use this with my Nikon D3100, 70-200mm f/2.8 and 35mm f/1.8 lenses, it was a hassle to set up but it was worth it. Prepare to spend some time on YouTube to set this up and it will ease your frustration. I really like how I can get some…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Nothing wrong

Instability even after balancing. You have to dance with this thing to keep it stable in a horizontal position. For the price paid, this is a fairly reasonable product, but it falls short of professional expectations. It seems clear that the concept of pole extension does not go far enough for balancing, pendulum and gravitational influences. The result of the design is an extension format that is too short. An additional 6 to 8 inches on the extension helps guide the center of gravity and…

Pros
  • Constant test results

Durable stabilizer at an affordable price

Can't believe I can buy this at this price! I've been waiting for about a year to find a stabilizer for my DSLR and I'm glad I chose this one. It's very durable and stable once you get the hang of it. Great: 1. The whole thing is made of metal. It has an excellent finish and great weight.2. It comes with six scales. For my Canon 200D with microphone I only needed two large.3. Easily adjustable. It took a while for everything to be perfect. I'm glad the grips are tenacious and easily adjustable.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Secret

Not bad for the price.

Be sure to weigh the camera before ordering this device. The maximum weight of the camera is 3.3 pounds or about 3 pounds. 5 ounces My Canon XC15 weighs 2 pounds. 7 ounces and seems to be working fine. My Nikon D850 with a VR 24-120 zoom lens weighs 3 pounds. 14 ounces and hopelessly too heavy. Maybe the weight of the stabilizer could be increased but I think the whole contraption would become too heavy and clunky. Some tips. Make sure you remove the strap from your camera before attempting to…
