Missing Light and Lighting Accessories

I replaced all the headlight bulbs in a 2006 VW Beetle and within a few weeks one stopped working. I used rubber gloves to prevent the bulbs from touching oil from my skin or other contaminants lest they fail due to poor installation. I'm concerned this will happen to other bulbs as well, so I'm replacing all 4 from a different manufacturer just to be safe. I should have paid more attention to other reviews.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Only available in black

Much better than standard Sylvania lights

I bought these to get whiter light and a little more brightness. I didn't like the yellow the stock headlights gave off, and the white light from the Silverstar bulbs contrasted nicely with my amber LED fog lights. I definitely got what I wanted and the brightness definitely helps with driving. I see a lot more while driving, but no one blinked their headlights at me in my 2014 Jeep Patriot.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Get them if you intend to change lightbulbs often.

If this product hasn't won awards for Marketing Ingenuity, it certainly should. The idea is obviously brilliant to sell a slightly (if any) better product that lasts about 1/4 the life of a standard bulb for twice the price with about the same manufacturing cost. The standard bulbs lasted over 5 years and the Silverstars were ready in 15 months, as far as brightness goes there was quite a slight initial improvement which faded fairly quickly. Meh, I'll stick to the cheaper alternatives from now

Poor landing, shouldn't have been that hard.

If you are considering these for a Dodge Ram, NOT. Of course it could just be the set I received if the quality control was a big mistake. Yes, I ended up installing them as soon as I had to remove the headlight housings and start a WWE wrestling match I didn't know I was in. After a lot of choice words, a lot of fighting, and pretty much everything I broke, I locked her up just long enough to call it a day. After my experience with them I will never buy anything from Sylvania again. Much luck!

Better than the original!

My car was fitted with regular (I can't remember what they're called) Sylvania headlights and at some point I decided to swap them out for these. I drove about 400 miles at night with these lights and I can tell you they aren't magic, but I've found that they are brighter and illuminate the right hand curb better. I didn't notice much difference in color, very thin. But I'd say it's a good upgrade for the money, as you can save an extra foot on a lighted curb or a few feet on the road from an…

SilverStar lamps are the perfect upgrade. Yes

As I'm not a tuner and would like to dazzle oncoming traffic with high power LED or purple headlights, SilverStar bulbs are the perfect upgrade. Yes they are a bit larger than standard bulbs but the road is more visible which is what I wanted. I've also noticed that the quality seems to have improved since the first SilverStars. My first few sets when they came out lasted about a year. Now life is much longer, or so it seems. It's been a long time since I've had to replace a blown lightbulb and

Whiter than traditional bulbs, good for high beam

Well, the luminous flux is definitely whiter than standard bulbs, but they're certainly not as white as LED bulbs. They are good for high beam and the bulb's bluish glass fits well in the headlight housing. Note that when the high beams are also DRLs (like on Honda or Toyota cars) they look a little, very little, whiter. as OEM in DRL mode but not as white as when the light is on at full voltage. If you are looking for a white DRL you will need to use an LED like the Philips Ultinon Essential…
