Arrived defective on my review.

I have had a TEAC 3340 recorder for years. It was a great recorder. When I bought this, TEAC was one of the best names in music. Assuming TEAC was still a great product I ordered this turntable. Big mistake! The turntable arrived with a background hum and a loud roar that accompanied any music being played. Suspecting a problem with the stylus, I ordered a new one. When I installed the new stylus this morning, I found no change. I will be sending it back and getting something else.I will not be…

Pros
  • Built-In Phono Preamp
Cons
  • May produce unsatisfactory sound quality on certain types of music

GRRRRRRREATTTTTT turntable for the money !

As an owner of a thorens and vintage technics turntables in the past i decided to give this a chance. Ive owned this for a few months now ,and have had NO issues with it. i wasnt a fan of the cartridge that came with it , so i installed an A/T 540 cartridge. SOOOOOOOOOOO much better . I primarily listen to everything from the WHO to dream theater to the DEAD to death metal. NO speed issues ,and it looks BEAUTIFUL. ( i have the walnut finish ) .

Pros
  • Now this is stunningly beautiful.
Cons
  • Bulky and takes up a lot of space

Why buy the TEAC TN-400S over a less expensive turntable?

I love this turntable! The design is beautiful. The walnut look with the matte finish metal looks fantastic. The build quality is solid. The platter has a nice weight to it and spins evenly. The arm has a weight balance and anti skate adjustment. Compared to the less expensive turntable I tried before this I have no reservations in recommending this despite the much higher price. I bought an Audio Technica AT-LP60WH-BT turntable but it had problems right from the start. From the initial…

Cons
  • Not as durable as other turntables in the same price range

this should be a much better unit!

This thing was top notch for first 6 months, then it started playing records slightly slower than it should. There are adjustment screws on the bottom of the unit, which do the trick for about 2 hours worth of play then back to playing slow again. For nearly $400, this should be a much better unit!

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • May produce noticeable background noise or distortion

Great looking, decent sound quality

Great looking! Have it placed on console table given such. Easy to use. Sound quality is good. I get a mild bass/hum from time to time that I cannot figure out. I have quality amp and cables. I'm sure there is a fix for this but was hoping out of the bag it would be primo. Would but again for price for sure. I don't see 1k necessary for my level of enjoyment.

Pros
  • Beautiful design/ looks great and sounds great
Cons
  • Sound quality not what I had hoped

$49 cartridge installed.

Cartridge is NOT an AT100E like Teac states in ads, it's an AT95E with no logo even, if u buy one of these plan on spending another 200 bucks on a decent cartridge!

Pros
  • A2D Converter
Cons
  • Can be difficult to transport due to its size and weight

Great turntable at this pricepoint

The design and components of this turntable are very classy. The operation is very smooth and satisfying. Cartridge is probably worth upgrading. A clear and full sound. Ultimately a great value.Connected to a Marantz 2220 receiver and Boston Acoustic 2-way bookshelf speakers.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • No built-in speakers, so additional audio equipment is necessary

Not easy to set the needle weight

I found it impossible to balance the return arm. Every time i felt like i had it correct i would start to play an album and it sounded terrible! Perhaps the needle was faulty but you would think With a new product that it would work incredibly well, for $250 it seems it would’ve gone easier. After about seven tries I scrapped it. And sent it back

Pros
  • 10.8 pounds
Cons
  • Requires careful handling to avoid damaging the delicate components

Product develops a low frequency HUM after a few months of use. Product description states 100% Money Back but when you contact amazon they tell you that it is out off the window of return. Manufacture has nothing on there web site where you can return for MONEY BACK BEWARE ! Of this product read full product details where it briefly states 100% MONEY BACK. and i am well within the one year warranty.

Great sound on my review.

After several years of not having a working turntable, I bought this as an Xmas gift for my wife, and she just loves it. Sound is great! no flutter or wow. Her old records (60's & '70's) play almost perfectly.Compared to my old Pioneer (ca 1968) the motor on the Teac is tiny; If it holds up as well, I'll be more than pleased.Set up was easy, Glad that there is a switch for disabling the pre-amp. Hopefully, I can make use of the usb connection to digitize our old records.

Pros
  • The Teac TN-400S turntable in walnut offers both high-quality sound and a visually striking design, making it the perfect addition to any home audio system
Cons
  • Replacement parts and accessories can be expensive

Makes me so happy for my opinion

I've had this thing for a little over a year now. After a year of nearly constant vinyl spinning, I could not be happier with how this turntable has performed. It sounds fantastic, it's beautifully designed, it's super easy to use, and I have had no issues whatsoever with it. I've used and listened to a number of similarly spec'd turntables in the past and this thing is truly a beast. Full bass, warm mids, and crystal clear treble - it's just that signature velvety vinyl tone.I've got it…

Pros
  • 16.5 x 14 x 4.6 inches
Cons
  • Requires manual cueing, which can be difficult for novice users

A beautiful peice of audio gear

Upgrading from older gear to modern, this is a beautiful turntable. Very easy to setup. Sound excellent with my system.

Pros
  • High-Quality Analog Playback
Cons
  • May not be compatible with all audio systems

GREAT! for my opinion

I looked for around 14 hrs looking for a great turntable. This and the AudioTech 120 were the only ones great for beginners in audiophile under the $500 range. This is a sturdy wood frame and great quality TT all around. Worth the money. PS:purchase a 2mm rubber mat.

Pros
  • Pre-Mounted Cartridge
Cons
  • Limited color options, only available in walnut

I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION

I made my decision to purchase the TN 400S over the TN 300 larger due to the conversation I had with a rep from crutchfield, who was very high on the TEAC TN 300 but after reviewing the specs on the TN 400S, he said that there was an upgrade on the built in amp and the drive system was improved a bit as well. I made my purchase a month ago and so far the TT has worked beautifully. The set up was easy and after purchasing a scale, my tonearm is tracking at 1.5g, no problem. I'm not a technically

Pros
  • Turntables & Accessories
Cons
  • Not recommended for high-volume use or parties

Bought this to replace an old Sony turntable from the '90s. I wanted to play 78s and wanted a little better sound. This is a beautiful turntable. Sound is fantastic although my receiver is an old Denon from about 20 years ago. It would probably sound even better if I upgrade the rest of my gear. Maybe someday. It took me a while to figure out the whole manual counter-balancing. At first, I had the arm too heavy and sound was very staticy. Almost packed it up to return but then I saw a YouTube…

Pros
  • Plug-and-Play Effortlessness
Cons
  • Requires regular maintenance and upkeep to ensure optimal performance

I am not a snooty audiophile - I just remember the old days when i bought the best audio equipment i could. This is a decent unit plays well and looks great. I plan on pairing it with a tube amplifier in the 300.00- 400.00 range as well as some vintage bose or jbl speakers

Pros
  • Home Audio
Cons
  • Limited warranty compared to other turntables in the same price range
