Inaccurate description

The description of this product says +/- 0.2Β°C but the documents supplied say +/- 1Β°C. I consciously chose this product based on the claimed increased accuracy. Too cheap to warrant a return, I will use it around the house but not be able to use it for the task it was bought for. I need to calibrate an aquarium thermometer and know the difference between 77.0 and 79.0 degrees, +/- 1Β°C (1.8Β°F) is too wide a range.

NIST certificate expired 4 months after arrival.

This thermometer was purchased on August 8th, 2017. It arrived on August 11, 2017. We ordered it because we needed a NIST thermometer for temperature calibration in our food production facility. It arrived with a calibration date of April 2017. It has expired 4 months. As anyone involved with auditors and temperature verification programs knows, you must have a NIST-traceable thermometer that has been calibrated with a certificate of compliance. We need to return it and buy it from a more…

Pros
  • Test, measure and verify

Fairly accurate for temperature and humidity readings

I have the 5 inch version which I think is more accurate than the other two hence the price is higher. The listing appears to be incorrect or at least misleading, so beware the buyer. Mine was NIST certified and I tested it for accuracy using the freezing point of water and the boiling point of water. By placing the probe's tip in ice water next to ice, I obtained 32.0 degrees Fahrenheit and immersed it in boiling water. the water temperature showed 203.5-204.0 degrees Fahrenheit. I live at…
