Has a photocell so it doesn't play in the dark. It appears to be progressive, the dimmer the light, the softer the wave. Good for sleeping, but unless it's in very bright light (about 6 inches below the dining table) it's so soft it's barely audible. A little disappointed

The first clock I ordered didn't play music for an hour. They only played music when I pressed the "Test" button. I went through all the steps to get a return authorization code for an exchange with no problems. Today the second watch came with some damage to the box, and the music doesn't play at all even when I press the "test" button.

We were delighted to receive this watch for the holidays. However, it's like the new Christmas clock is over because the music just stopped playing. The clock works but the songs don't! After Valentine's Day I finally put it away. I DON'T KNOW. The clock itself makes a great Christmas decoration but I am very disappointed that the music stopped playing when the time changed.
