Disappointing Performance of Thunderbolt Enclosure

Thanks to my knowledge gained in practice, I chose this enclosure to boost the performance of my NVME drive. However, it turned out to be a huge letdown. The speeds were nowhere close to what was advertised, resulting in slow file transfers and laggy applications. The only redeeming feature was its sleek design.

Definitely better than USB-C speed. From 1.4GB/s to 2GB/s with Sabrent 2TB NVME and APFS/encrypted.

VERY solid assembly. Beautifully machined aluminum chassis. Installed Sabrent 2TB M2.2208 NVME. Connected to MBP via TB3. Formatted as AFPS/case sensitive/encrypted. Verified with BlackMagic Speed Test. Read ranges: 1400-2000 MB/s Recording ranges: 1400-1750 MB/s 4 PCIe links. Update: NVME is dead. The enclosure powers on and appears in the Thunderbolt list, but the underlying storage device does not. We find out if the cause of the failure is NVME or the case.

Very hot, inconsistent performance

Looking for fast external storage performance for my 2019 16" MacBook Pro (Big Sur), I purchased this Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 NVME SSD enclosure. Results were mixed and different, especially when recording.I tested this with three different NVMe SSDs - Western Digital SN750 Black 500GB, XPG 2TB, Samsung 970 Pro (which are not supported by Trebleet.)
