🔧 VISE GRIP Pliers Needle 2078955: Versatile and Reliable Tools for a Wide Range of Applications Review

Great needlepoint set and very nice design. This kit gives me the long, thin needles I need to inspect small, precise parts when assembling CNC equipment. Some tongs aren't built to exacting machine tool standards, but they are, they articulate and slide very well and work very accurately. The color scheme helps me find them in a flash.

This product was terrible. I thought spending more money and getting a great review would be a great reliable tool. After a few uses the spring broke which was my main reason for buying the tool. It is a pity that these companies produce in China and do not control the quality of their products and raw materials.

Complete junk. Made from the cheapest metal. So bad, in fact, that if left unused in a workbench drawer in the garage, they will corrode and rot to the point where they will no longer function. I have a small army of Irwin products; and these are by far the worst. Don't even think about removing them without first drying them completely; and then spray with WD40. You would be outraged if I attached a picture!

When you squeeze the pliers with grippers, the tip of the pliers loses pressure. For example, when I used it to pull a very thin, short wire bristle out of a wooden wire brush, I had to squeeze the pliers to hold the wire. Barely squeezing the pliers allows you to grab the wire with the tip of the pliers, but the harder I squeezed to pull it out, the tip let go. I can live with this weird defect as long as I can use it for other, more common purposes.

Eyelets are not ground flush and are literally bent when first used to pull coated wire through a hole. The tips were bent by simply grabbing and pulling the wire (with just enough clamping force to hold the job). This tool is garbage and doesn't even keep at home if it's ever useful at all. You can't really apply force and have it on the ends. You're better off finding the $4 Chinese tools at your local Advance/Autozone than these. I have a shop, FWIW.

Even at twice the price, they couldn't feel better. The spring keeps it open well and the handles are comfortable to hold. They say Irwin, but Irwin is Vice-Grip, so it says Vice-Grip on the grip and Irwin is stamped on the metal. I put a little 3 in 1 oil on the joint and rub the metal so they stay like new for a very long time. I use different sizes of needlepoints and no pair fits everything I make.
