Discreet. Not waterproof (even after two attempts at waterproofing), but very warm. It's well built. It's canvas and like wool on the inside, so very warm, but when it gets wet it holds water and takes a long time to dry.

The packaging is misleading. I bought this product last year, it worked great and they have since updated the post. When I bought it it was listed as waterproof not repellent. I live in a desert state so we only need blankets a few days a year. This week we have frost and rain. My horse was soaked to the skin and the blanket held the water on it like a sponge. I live on the West Coast and these duvets are definitely not for the weather. You must be referring to So Cal, but I live in Washington DC and the duvets are not waterproof at all, even after spraying them with waterproofing spray. They fit a little oddly as the leg straps affect the overall fit too much. There is only one waist belt. They seem small because my horses usually wear between 78-80 and 81 which barely fit them.
