This antenna and Uniden 510xl perform better than I expected. Approximately 2 miles through dense trees and small urban plateaus. I expected half!

I bought these for a Whistler TRX 1 Scan radio so I can listen to CB radio on long drives when there are lots of truckers around . During the drive I was surprised that the radio worked very well even though it picked up the UHF frequencies I couldn't figure out why I would buy a real radio antenna with a scanner if this works great for me I won't picking up far just trying to see clearly what's around me say 10 miles this antenna does the trick for something that costs $20 you can't beat it.

It didn't take long to assemble using the Allen key provided. As an amateur radio operator, I know that I should have tested the antenna before using it. I mounted it on the roof of my truck and used it with a Cobra 29 Ltd Classic radio. The magnet has a lot of power. Did 130 km/h and now I'm in trouble. The antenna can be adjusted, but with the adjustable radio I didn't have to adjust the antenna at all. Reinstall about 15 times. Installed it first in the front of my van with a 'spool' of unused wire under the headliner. Got really good 1.2s across the tape, channel 1 and 40. Everything looked fine. Then when I reinstalled cb the signal got messed up. Much more than 2, even 3 in the red. Not good. Purchased for Uniden 980 SSB CB radio. Seems to be working fine at the moment but there are no more people on the CB tape! On reflection I bought a Midland McKinley and found that my sunroof was interfering with the expected ground plane of those magnetic mount antennas. I got around this by installing a second ground wire on the radio's case and connecting the other end of the ground wire to vehicle ground.
