He does what is necessary.

I used this product with a 2020 MacBook Air running Mac OS 11 (big sur). It works great and the HD quality on my TV through the HDMI port is good. The only very minor issue is that if you plug the power cord into the hub's USB-C port and then turn off your MacBook Air, it immediately restarts. This wasn't really a big problem, although I personally and easily solved it by leaving the power cord plugged directly into the MacBook via the second USB-C port.
