Good replacement: car and vehicle electronics

This item replaces the original converter. This converter has a speed and temperature function that did not exist in the original. I like this update because I like seeing how fast I'm trolling.

    Garmin's Best Fish Finder

This fish finder is just great - fairly easy to install and works well in most situations. On plains with lots of grass, readings were sometimes inaccurate or unable to determine depth, but generally it worked great and better than other sensors I've used in the past.

Easy installation for automobiles and automotive electronics

Unlike other sensors, the speed and temperature sensor has a hinge that prevents breakage when it hits a foreign object. It assembles in minutes and has a lot of cables. Speed is good to have with GPS in tidal waters to know exactly how fast the boat is moving. When fishing for salmon, speed is key.

    Pros
    • One year trial period
    Cons
    • Low repairability

    Solved my car electronics problem

I wasn't sure if my problem was related to the Garmin device, sensor or cable. The problem was that I regularly lost depth/finder measurements. The display of depth and underwater images will stop at any time. After replacing the sensor with the cable, everything was fine. The problem must have been in the Duser itself. What a relief to know how deep the water you are sitting in is. This product fixed me/us!

    Better than expected.

This sensor is really good. Much better than the temperature transducer/sensor that came with my fish finder/chartplotter. I caused problems for myself by not familiarizing myself with the installation process before starting work. It is not exactly the same as other converters. It doesn't make it worse. In fact, I believe this device is the best mousetrap. Realizing I didn't know what I was doing, I read the instructions. That's when I realized that the way this device is attached is pretty…

Set exactly as recommended by Garmin and Airmar

I am using this Airmar P66 with a Garmin 441S GPS/Fishfinder set exactly as recommended by Garmin and Airmar. This converter doesn't work very well on my 17 foot Boston Whaler. It loses ground lock above 20 mph. Airmar recommended increasing the angle and ensuring the device is well submerged. I did both with no improvement. Also, even when decelerating to a stop, the 441S and the transducer block do not achieve ground lock until I reset the 441S. I'll try moving the unit to a different…
