The lightest press breaks the signal

These adapters work but the lightest press breaks the signal and all my screens go black for 3-5 seconds. This is annoying at home but unacceptable when presented.

What can go wrong, right? Spring.

*** See update at the end *** I was hoping to use this adapter to connect my Mac to an Asus Rog monitor which is a great monitor but it is not the point and apparently when connected to this adapter the monitor freezes and does not work for about 2 minutes and then comes back. I have other HDMI users and have used this Mac with other displays and never had this issue. I suspect it has something to do with resolution or refresh rate, but I don't know. Works great with my Macbook Pro -> iMac 2007

The only thing I don't like about this unit is that when my iMac (target monitor) goes to sleep I have to unplug it and plug it back in on after waking up my iMac with the power button. I was hoping it would automatically wake up the iMac when my Macbook Pro is in use.
