100% failure! for bullet cameras

Avoid. Bought several in July 2020. One died a few days later, fast enough that I was able to return it to the seller for a replacement. The second died 10 months later but I didn't realize it until after the warranty expired so it's too late to submit an RMA. The last two died at about 13 months. This is not a good product.

  • Easy to read control panel

Works best in security cameras

Installed in a barn where the temperature can vary wildly and sometimes with a decent amount of dust/hay. Has been working great for over a month now. I'm using it with a Unifi controller that comes with local storage for video recording. Night vision works surprisingly well, although the IR range is narrower than the camera's field of view.

They are amazing. if they really work.

I've bought 6 G3 bullets and replaced 4 so far 2 were DOA, 1 had a bad IR sensor (so no night vision), the 4th didn't sync the system. I had no problems with the G3 Flex cameras. I'm not sure what's going on with QC at ubiquiti, but it was a big headache and a big disappointment. It should be noted that cameras that work properly are really great!

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Unreliable, random and frequently disconnected

Everything works fine if the device is not disconnected from the network. Maybe I have a lemon, it just randomly turned off for no reason. I have another old passive 24V Poe device connected to the same switch and it works fine, so the network is unlikely to be the problem. I think Ubiquiti needs to work on quality control.

Only works for bullet cameras

Disclaimer: I have all Home Unifi with Cloud Key 2+, USG and level 3 switches. When I connected the camera to my network, the Unifi has Protect UI she found and accepted it quickly and easily. The protective GUI allowed me to customize motion detection and privacy zones, as well as image quality. The Unifi Protect app for Android works seamlessly with the entire system. I can change the settings from my phone just as I can from the web interface. You can set up RTSP so that you can also view…

Poor performance at night

I have 4 different Ubiquiti cameras at home and this one takes the worst photos at night. Worse than G4 Pro, G4 Doorbell and even Flex Mini. And that with an additional infrared radiator. When it's bright it takes decent photos, at least good enough for safety. And when I leave the approach lights on it's fine, but under real night conditions. Very black. The installation is quite easy. For example, the simplicity of Power Over Ethernet. He lay under a canopy in winter weather for a few months…

Ubiquiti / Unifi Security Cameras Recommended

I started using Ubiquiti cameras a few years ago after several iterations up to the latest models in bulk with no problems. They run in multiple installs on either Ubiquiti NVRs or Ubiqiti NVR software on Windows or Ubuntu. No problem except that the older version of the NVR is a low-end Linux microcomputer, which means the fan will die in 2 years. This is to be expected especially in dusty conditions. Running the NVR software on your own hardware gives you more control over the quality of the…

Pleasantly.disappointed.

I have several cheaper Chinese cameras that put this camera to shame. I don't know who works in unifi's quality control department, but they need to improve their quality control process A LOT. I got this product after everyone was talking about how good Unifi products are. I searched and searched for a quality branded camera to replace my Chinese ones as I wanted a more recognizable brand. I have this camera, it's all connected to my network and set to VLAN just for the picture to show up and…
