I used USB-A to USB-C to USB-A to USB 3.1 cables to connect my backup drives to my Mac Connect Book Pro. The adapters worked well enough, but on my MBP they were a bit loose on the USB-C side. Hit something and the connection will be lost. This is particularly annoying and can be disastrous when dealing with external backup drives.
