Small precise analog panel meters

I bought these to use as analog readers for various things from the microcontroller. They have a reasonable lag in the arrow's movement and don't lag behind too much. In terms of accuracy, you're pretty limited by the resolution of your eye relative to the back. I haven't taken any serious measurements, but they appear to be linear and, after a slight adjustment of the calibration screw, will give 5V when 5V is applied and 0V when 0V is applied. As an aside, they have plenty of room. to install

Pros
  • They can also be used for other current measurement purposes
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Actual Analog Meter Movement

In an age where everything is digital, it can be refreshing to add a classic analog touch to a project. This gauge fits perfectly without being insanely expensive as it's easy to find alternatives from regular electronic component suppliers. Its 5V scale is easily controlled via the Arduino's PWM pin, and it would also be easy to create nested scale boards to place behind the needle. They pair well with some classic phenolic knobs and rugged toggle switches for a '60s era panel look.

Pros
  • Ammeter must work with a Current Transformer (CT) which is not included here
Cons
  • Frequency

Great little hobby tool.

Okay, I've never used a panel voltmeter as a hobby so wasn't sure what I was getting. These blocks are 100% plastic and I have to assemble them in a non-standard way as I don't have a control panel. Other than that, they do exactly what they're supposed to do and the mounting hardware is every bit as good as what I've worked with at work. The plastic seems strong enough to withstand the assembly process and it looks like they'll last (mechanically) for a few years at least. I'm not sure how…

Pros
  • Clear and easy to read dial and fine adjustment knob
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
