Valterra R8012 ABS Water Tank Review

Excellent workmanship, very durable. I've had it for several hikes in and out of my Suburban. No holes, leaks or failures of any kind. solid product.

I've been looking for a long time for a rectangular tank that I could use in my caravan. All of the ones that fit the dimensions I wanted were rotomoulded and expensive! It was easy. The fittings are good but I wish there were more sizes of corner bolts with the flat flange.

Good product and well made. The only issue I had was that it had a slight leak through the needle hole where the seam sealer let some water through. It was very slow and the quality control department could easily have overlooked it. A little more sealant where the water was dripping solved the problem. Overall very happy with the product and it works well on my country trailer.

I needed a black water tank to fit in a specific space. This tank was the right size and I was able to get it to work. I thought that the tank would be completely tight, but a threaded hole is already installed. Of course, that wasn't the right place for my project, but I was able to find a suitable dowel and then drill holes myself.

This is a cool modular design so you can get many different sizes with the same width and thickness. Attaching the hardware was easy with ABS glue from my local hardware store. It came with a drain hole for an open pipe and a couple of grommets for other places if I so desired. There are no built-in fasteners. I had to make some straps to hold the tank in place. I can't wait to use it.

I bought two of these tanks for my short wheel bus conversion project, a fresh water tank and a gray water tank. I bought these because they are ABS, I drilled a large hole in the side of one and "welded" a large 1.5" ABS filler neck to the side of the fresh water tank with ABS glue and the same made for the drain on the gray. After a year of use I have decided to replace this tank. There were just too many leaks. The first appeared within 3 months. The inner supports are welded directly to the outside of the tank. Everything is fine, except that the walls of the tank expand and contract a little when filling or emptying. This movement led to the formation of holes at some weld points.
