Hyundai Santa Fe V6 2007 - my speedometer and odometer stopped working - went to 4 different mechanics who couldn't diagnose the problem - spent $185 - decided to do it myself -VSS- Sensor is behind the transmission - tricky to find and hard to reach on this model but only took 1 bolt - saved $100

I got VSS yesterday and got to work right away. My speedometer, odometer and cruise control stopped working recently and Hyundai forums said this sensor was probably the cause. Finding the location of the sensor was a little tricky, and getting there was even more difficult. When I got there and replaced it, the speedometer and everything worked right away.

I used this to repair the vehicle speed sensor in my 02 Sonata GLS V6 2.7L. The sensor is compatible with the Sonata transmission (actually the same part number) but the transmission is not. I first tried using a new sensor and gear but the gear burned out after only 2 miles of riding. This caused the speedometer to stop completely. Luckily the original equipment was in good condition. My 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe speedometer stopped working. Replacing it with this part fixed the problem AND got the cruise control working again which had started going haywire a few years ago. Hooray! I tried replacing the speedo sensor with a cheaper one that didn't come with the drive and that didn't solve my problem.
