💾 Verbatim 95188 Black CompactFlash Memory Card with 4GB Storage: High Performance Solution Review

I originally bought one for an extra CF card in a Cisco router. So far the card has worked well, formatted effortlessly and still works. The price is pretty decent, especially considering it's a well-known brand (compared to many other options available). Overall a great choice and I highly recommend it for low memory operations.

Does not work with Akai MPC. Constant read/write errors causing MPC to hang. Whether it's a sample or a program, it's the same. Even just previewing the samples will freeze. These read/write numbers may be average, but in real time they fluctuate like a waveform. Probably works great in camera as they usually do one thing or the other. In the MPC, it's basically a paperweight

I use this memory chip in my old Leica 1200 series GPS receiver. The original that came with it is only 256K and the newer ones you can get today go up to 32G , but mean, the old Leica doesn't support anything but 4G. I have 4G in my Leica Rover and it works great. This card has enough space to store all the data I've ever collected using this base station and it has enough space for any work I need to do. By the way, I'm a surveyor, not a camera enthusiast.

If you're having trouble with your MPC or PC not recognizing this card, it's because the file format isn't FAT32. I had to format the card on a Linux machine and that fixed the problem. Windows 10 sees the card but can't even format it in Disk Management. also the MPC500 and MPC1000 are not recognized and both just freeze until I remove the card. Currently the card is working fine and I can load and save samples to the MPC. OS version of MPC 500 is 1.31 and MPC 1000 is jjos 3.16.

I have an old spinning (and bad) hard drive in my Mac Performa 630CD replaced by StarTech CF-to-IDE adapters and this CF card from Verbatim. This was the only card I could find that worked with a very early implementation of the Performa IDE. If you want to do the same, be sure to buy "4GB" and not "Premium 4GB".
