The wood is quite thin but good for a treasure chest. Pretty much what I was looking for although a bit pricey for what you get. It costs around $30 and I don't expect it to stand up to really rough play.

So it is not a family heirloom but a niece will survive and may fall into the hands of his brother although he may not survive the extremely rough treatment by him after 10 years Use. It looks very cool. Details are excellent, everything works. It made me smile as I imagined it would allow a small, magical human to summon it. The item was not described as damaged but we did notice two nicks revealing the cheap plywood construction underneath. The shipping box wasn't damaged, so we're pretty sure it's either the design or poor workmanship. In any case, it was unsatisfactory.
