The spout under the "beak" is metal and recessed just enough for any drips to flow down the metal spout into the lid and back into the glass bottle. All drops are self-sufficient. I was looking for a soap dispenser that didn't look like the soap dispenser I would leave in the kitchen. That's great! I've been using it for a few weeks now and love its features.
