This trimmer was cheap and unfortunately looks cheap. The guides are not easy to put on, but hold securely when tightened. I have found that you can adjust the attachments by bringing them closer to the cutting blade. Once you've got everything set up the way you want it, cropping is decent. The device isn't very powerful, but it works to trim a beard every few weeks.

This set replaces an identical set I bought over 10 years ago. Nice that nothing has changed. Sturdy, easy to hold and comes with a handy storage tray that will fit the trimmer and all of its attachments without having to dig through a drawer. Runs on TWO AA batteries. I've only used it for a goatee cut so I've never tried it as a hair trimmer with longer hair guides, but I assume it works well. I have no regrets about the purchase.

Bought the exact same unit a few years ago and was so glad I bought this one. I have to say I'm a little disappointed that this one doesn't cut as well as the old one. In fact, I find that the old one, as it is (dull blade), cuts as well or even better than the new one. The only reason I bought a new trimmer was the one I had was dull, apart from not cutting well it was still in good condition. Maybe a new blade would be a better choice.
