Ideal for light hiking on a budget

Bought as a cheap starter pack when I start helping out with the local BSA scout force. Took it to IOLS and it worked great. I've been through two camps with her now. I can see that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of many other backpacks and the volume isn't suitable for extended camping, but for a 2 day adventure it works great. I'm passing it on to my daughter who just got the rank of Webelos. This will be a good package for her to start with.

Great bang for your buck!

I just received this backpack so I haven't taken it on a hike yet. But when I look at it, I like it very much. The sleeping bag compartment below is separated from the top and holds my camping books. The top is really roomy which is great as I will be using it on a 3 week trip to Asia. And a raincoat comes in handy too as I'm out and about during the rainy season. I thought I would like it but the belts don't take much load at all which made him unhappy.

The overall design is decent, you can fit a lot of stuff in it and there are some good amenities (small pockets, straps/loops for attaching things, etc.) so it's great at first glance appears . The shoulder and waist straps are well padded. The rain cover seems to work and the bag itself is light. However, it turns out that under heavy loads, the straps simply WILL NOT hold up. Great Value, Terrible Zippers

I took this pack on a 3 day 70 mile hike up the Laurel Highlands Trail in western Pennsylvania. On the first day the weather was fine for 24 miles. Although the backpack was extremely light (just over 2 pounds), it securely held everything I needed - 25 pounds including total water. My shoulder straps were not adjusted well and the backpack was too heavy. So I had severe pain in the upper parts of my shoulders. If you don't adjust this thing properly, you're going to get hurt.
