The chrome ring is a bit cheap but it fits and looks good. Smells good. Not sure why other reviews have said this is the case. worth $14.

The 1999 Golf 4 uses a shifter with much larger holes, it will not fit unless you take the knob off the old shift boot and attach it to the new shift boot. I did, unfortunately the old handle is worn out, but at least the leather is like new now.

Got it, looks good. Easy installation, slightly more solid than the one it replaces (as far as the switch goes). Smells like China, I'm not being sarcastic. Has a specific smell. The smell all over the car and also on the hand. I smell kerosene. Anyway, it looks good and feels good.

This is a good product. You have to air it out and/or wash it a few times because it smells like plastic and glue and still leaves a smell on my hand a month later. It fit my 2002 VW Golf fairly easily. The hood is slightly longer than the original model, but the excess folds up nicely. There was a lot of plastic, protrusions and tags on the leg, but these could be polished up a little with the handle of a butter knife. Other than that, the smell is 90% similar to the original.
