Don't waste your time and money

Terrible wooden spatula! The product was too thin and failed to build up even after 3 fills and just shrank. Doesn't pick up stains either. As a result I wasted my money because this filling was not good. Famowood putty is exactly what you need!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • weak

Improved Wood Spatula

I am a renovation contractor. This spatula was recommended to me by my cousin, who earns his living exclusively by laying and finishing parquet floors. This is a great product. It's spreading and filling up like drywall mud. After drying, it rubs off the floor, but gets stuck in cracks and holes where you need it. Looks great with poly or stain. A bucket is enough.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Doesn't appear in Adhesives & Sealants

I ordered this grain filler because my friend bought the same stuff and it worked great. I've been waiting for him to show up so I can finish watering the floors I'm working on. He was supposed to be here last Sunday, but he hasn't shown up yet. I checked the tracking and found that it arrived in Atlanta and was shipped to Texas. I'm in the SC. I guess it's the joy of driving back and forth across the country.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • boring packaging

Worth the Hassle!: Adhesives & Sealants

We just renovated a 700 square foot red oak floor that had 1/4 to 1/2 inch gaps after 20 years of expansion and contraction. The first photo shows the gaps filled before sanding and painting. In some places I had to apply multiple coats as it dries as it dries. We were changing the color of our floors so we weren't sure how this product would look with a stain on it. The second photo shows a finished red oak floor finished with a Puritan Pine stain and two coats of satin polyester. We love howโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good Value
Cons
  • Not Bad

Easier to apply and less sanding if excess is removed before curing

I used this product on a red oak floor straight from the factory so lots of roughness. As stated, I sanded it down with a drum sander after the first pass. It seemed to shrink a little, so it went through a second time before the next grit. Sometimes the 3rd Complemented with Bona Nordic and Bona Traffic. Looks great. I even patched some defects after sealing but before poly. It's only been a week, but it's looking solid. The putty will probably handle stains better than Scandinavian whitewash.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Roughness

Buy this, not what you can buy at the Orange Store

Fill in fibres, small cracks and gaps with wood spatula before sealing or painting and then applying a finish - the crucial difference between a beautiful wooden floor and its looks an HGTV copycat, shielded and cheaply repainted. For convenience, I bought "Proโ€ branded clothes from a large orange store. It didn't dry out, but it was a shame to put it on. It was applied unevenly, clumped and otherwise just irritated at work. Ordered a gallon of Woodwise and what's the difference. Applies easily

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Unusable features
