Recently bought a new house and replaced the front and rear door handles. The size and shape of the cutouts varied. I bought this chisel to increase the size and deepen the shape a bit. It was sharp enough to make a clean, precise, and flat cut. The low cost made the purchase even more pleasant!
It was great although it didn't last long because the whole edge and bevel was cracked! I'm willing to admit that this was an isolated case and have contacted the manufacturer to arrange a return and replacement as promised by their warranty, but they have not returned my email or responded to the claim form I filled out online . Bottom line, the bit was worse and the company didn't care.
For a $3 chisel you can't ask for more. It is not sharp out of the box and will not keep sharpening for long. Most chisels are not sharp instantly, you have to spend some time flattening the back and sharpening them. It is, and this chisel is no different. Take sandpaper, whetstones or diamond stones and you can turn them into a razor to shave off your beard. I am very happy with it and will be using it to make my own wooden shoulder plane. I assume it works very well.
Not a bad chisel, especially for the price. But don't expect it to be spicy straight away. It has been sanded to a point but the tip has severe sand scratches and is not sharp at all. I tried using it straight out of the box but it didn't even hit me with a hammer. A flathead screwdriver would work just as they say, once sharpened and polished it works great. It holds the edge very well and appears to be quite durable. Just note that you need to sharpen the edge when you get it. What I did wasβ¦
