Moisture Invasion - Car Electronics

This was a replacement for the same unit that was mounted in the back of our RV as a RV Maker's bearing that got sweaty and died after driving through Oregon on a rainy day. I thought this device was just defective. Driving in a downpour with a brand new replacement block produced the same result, moisture getting into the block and internal fogging of the "camera" lens. If you intend to use this outdoors I strongly advise against it.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Big and Bulky

Not quite waterproof!

The camera system was great until I noticed a very blurry image just before my last ride. The cell was full of water. I tried cleaning it but to no avail. Less than two years. Good monitor so now I need to find a replacement.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Doubtful

Amazing reach on 25ft RV trailer

I use this for the 'rear view mirror' on the back of my 25ft RV trailer with a view screen in the truck. I was concerned it would not communicate reliably over a distance and across a trailer. It worked very well and the signal strength meter is good. I didn't have an easy way to connect the trailer wiring so I used a 24 volt battery which works fine.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • New Competitors

Humidity after a few years

I gave this unit two stars because it worked well when installed in January 2017. Always kept in winter. But then came May 2020, after driving a few hours along the coast, I noticed a blur. I stopped, checked and found moisture in the lens. It clears up after a few days but then starts up again when the sun shines for a while. I can't believe how much I paid for this item! Now I have to find another.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Weight
