Easy mount for satellite radio

The satellite radio keeps turning on and off. Loss of reception is all he said. It's not easy to swap out the standard antenna, so I decided to use a portable magnetic mount. Routed the cables and then tried to connect to the Sirius Box, selecting the wrong one. The correct adapter must be ordered (Yellow Tail Adapter). Now it works great.

Pros
  • This 23ft antenna cable fits even the largest cars and SUVs
Cons
  • Clarity

Why was this exchange necessary?

The original antenna (purchased from Sirius/XM as part of a complete radio) is defective. I understand that the problem was in the connection cable? When someone is using a portable radio, they are sometimes thrown around, causing wear and tear on the connecting wires. The antenna wire has a particularly small diameter and is susceptible to damage.

Pros
  • All of our antennas are OEM direct XM approved replacement antennas
Cons
  • So far so good

Does the job and now I have the XM back

The Sirius XM signal became intermittent after I installed a camper hanging over the truck cab and blocked the stock shark antenna fin. The thing is hanging on the hood and the XM signal is strong and stable. You will probably need a separate adapter to connect it to the radio. On my Tacoma this was fairly easy and took less than an hour to pull out the radio and thread the antenna cable through the rubber grommet in the firewall. If I did it again it would probably only take 15 or 20 minutes.

Pros
  • XM Satellite Radio Magnetic Roof Mount Antenna
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

Excellent long wire Sirius/XM antenna

Well constructed antenna purchased to mount an XM portable radio on the dash of a 2001 Grand Cherokee (WJ). That was enough to get from the center of the dash along the driver's side floor panel to the roof just above the third brake light. The reception is good, the magnet keeps the antenna in place from the moment of installation. If I ever had to install an XM radio again I would buy this antenna again.

Pros
  • Satellite radio
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Fits our XM radio and works perfectly

Attaches to our XM radio which we sometimes move from car to car. Works great - no problems receiving or installing. It has a comfortable, secure fit and we had no trouble using it on a 2,000-mile ride. Reception is clear and uninterrupted (except in normal places like tunnels or garages). The cable is long enough to run from the front of the 4Runner to the A-frame upright, through the headliner, through the tailgate, and up to the roof. There are still a few meters to go after this route, so…

  • Car Audio
