I really like that it's free to use, as well as being able to run in your own machine with no need for additional hardware or software licenses (which are pretty expensive). It can be quite slow at times when rendering large scenes but this isn't too much of an issue since you're not using realtime graphics anyway - just something nice if someone wants to do some more serious work later down the line! If anyone has any questions about how things function within yafaray then feel welcome to ask…

Pros
  • Free
  • Good community support available via forums & twitter.
  • Pretty easy setup process which doesn’t require root access.
  • Can render multiple objects simultaneously without having one object obscuring another
  • Easy way add realistic colour into renders by adding textures onto surfaces etc
Cons
  • Zero

Good Particle system especially great visualisations

I like that it's easy to use, has support for both GPU rendering as well with CPU cores (which makes sense). The renderer itself can be slow if you have many particles in your scene or high quality meshes due its low-level nature of how BSP trees are built from triangles/quads etc., but this isn't much an issue unless doing really large scenes (>10000 objects) which will take some time regardless even without using yafaray at all! It may sometimes crash when saving out files so make sure save…

Pros
  • It can do good lighting effects and has great GPU rendering support
Cons
  • The renderer itself is quite slow, but I guess this is the price to pay for BSP trees and how it handles lighting
