We have had it for several months and it has not been updated. We used to have a glass oiler, but it fell and broke. This butter dish won't break. The included knife is a nice touch - we usually leave it with the oil on the inside rather than on top as the residual oil makes the finish oily. It's easy to clean - we wash and rinse it off before putting a new dipstick on it.

Nice thoughtful design. A whole stick of butter (US size) fits perfectly and offers plenty of space. I'm assuming the extra space is for accommodating European sized butter. The "bevels" on either end are great for wiping excess oil off the spreader. My old glass oiler was so heavy and unwieldy compared to this one.
