I'm tempted to buy a second set

I don't like the use of the word "plastic" in the description. It's difficult to sell a "plastic" construction. Nylon is a plastic, but super plastic, hence "nylon". The compression characteristics they show lead me to believe this is a higher quality urethane. These jaws were made for my 6" wood vise. The perfect addition. The magnets stick really well and I was impressed with the new ways my vise can now hold things. The charge is less than £10, and the premium delivery is for me the payment…

Pros
  • Hand tools
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Weak and slippery for power tools and hand tools

I have a Monster Yost vise and it was a great tool. I was looking forward to these pads for some of the pen spins I did. No! Magnets are weak, plastic is very slippery. Maybe he would hold the whistle. everything else wants to slide and dodge. Any deviation pushes the plates off the jaws and your workpiece flies! Remember, this is a giant Yost vise with lots of metal to sit on. My pinky sheds plastic almost effortlessly. Jost makes good vices but clearly bad pads. This movie always pops up in…

Pros
  • Power tools and hand tools
Cons
  • Good but not great

Very thick, soft and almost spongy

I bought these at the same time as the 5" Yost Vise. I like my visa very much. These cheek covers are so-so. You are super fat. Soft and rubbery. The magnets are not strong and will break with minimal use. I think their material could be thinner and the material could be harder. I don't have anything else to use so I'll use this and get by. Today I used a terry towel to hold some of the fittings which I didn't want to damage, I had to because these cheek covers are too soft to hold the fittings

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Nice set of soft jaws with a design flaw

Purchased to help mount iron pipe lamps and other "industrial" fixtures. In general I like them, although they are a bit softer than I would like. It's hard to find something that won't damage the metal yet is strong enough to hold it securely when a lot of torque is applied. Like most soft jaws, they have several rare earth magnets built into them to hold them against the jaws of the metal vise. The problem with them is that the magnets are squarely in line with the main groove that runs the…

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

On the first day of use, one of the three magnets (three on each side) came off. I contacted Yost about this and Yost responded very quickly. Yost's answer: Take some super glue and stick it in place. I replied that I didn't want to fix the product as suggested, I wasn't sure if the remaining magnets would stay in place. I didn't get a reply from Yost afterwards. The jaws are returned to Revane. I do not recommend this product. Part 2 - I received a late email from Jost apologizing for the…

Pros
  • Nice packaging

  • I don't remember
