Showing this cup/cupholder with what appears to be a large cup. This is false advertising. The holder is tapered so even an 8 ounce mug without a cone will not fit. 8 ounce mugs are probably the most common mugs. I even tried one of my roommate's conical mugs, but it's 12 oz and doesn't fit at all. It's great for narrow mugs and the like, but don't buy it if you intend to use it with a mug.

I was so disappointed. Bought a new laptop desk and then this item to complete it. The opening range was good and it looked good. They were advertised at up to 30 ounces so I bought them. However, in less than 5 minutes with my 24oz PLASTIC mug filled with Root Beer, it fell off and I had to deal with a huge mess :( I have to go back as it doesn't hold up well.

The product itself is excellent, it does exactly what it is advertised to do. It mounts easily on a flat surface and will hold cups of various sizes, although it will not hold a cup with a handle. My problem with this is that the sellers have their names emblazoned in big letters at the top. It's black and my desk was black so I was hoping it would fit discreetly on the side, but no, giant white letters advertise their company name. I ordered a set of 2, one of which should have a slot for using the mug. Unfortunately in the set I received both coasters were the same and neither had a slot. I'd also appreciate if the spring that tensions the clamp was stronger, or the pads lining the contact surface were glued on - it would be awfully easy to knock the whole thing off the table if it was on one side or the other would be hit hard enough .although so far I've managed to avoid it. After my stomach operation I got a table on which I can lie in bed. On the table was my laptop and some papers/notes. However, my drinks will sweat and the water will ruin my documents.
