To be honest I did it wrong but the result was terrible and I will not use them again. I think I was careful and wrapped it in tape to secure it, then gently patted it with my hand and tried to be careful again. I then let it dry when I was done and wow when I took it off everything was sloppy and the design didn't even show up properly. Glad I tried it on a tray before doing it on the item I wanted! I love these templates. You are fantastic. They are beautiful and durable and I love the patterns. I glued my ribbons in strips of four. This way I can lay out 12 square meters a little faster. It also makes it more likely that I won't mess up the template. Gluing them all together would be a bit more difficult, and laying out three strips of template isn't that difficult.
