Superb Razor

This is a Superb Razor. I have been using a Dovo Bismarck straight razor since 2008 and I enjoy using it regularly. And I wanted to expand my collection to give Bismarck a break. After getting the Zertone I sharpened the blade in 6 passes on a wet 8000 grit stone and finished it in 12 passes on a wet 12000 grit stone. 50 strokes on the skin and I had the close shave I have had since long had. If you're interested in this blade, get it - you won't be disappointed. probably every 60 to 90 days…

Pros
  • Complete Set
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

The best budget straight razor!

I consider this the best in the budget razor line. It was beautifully packaged in a case and very sharp, I brushed off my underarm hair like it was nothing. I've bought a lot of cheaper razors to see if I can find a great, inexpensive razor that's really worth the money. I bought a normal blade and one with an improved blade. I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two blades. Speaking to the seller he explained that the formula of the improved blade increases the time it will continue

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Ironically, the blade is the only component I like.

I bought the "modernized" version of this razor with a wooden handle. Perhaps the blade could be sharper, but I have found that the blade is ready to use and I can experiment. 4-5 stars so far for a blade that was $30 at the time of purchase, I don't think I could have asked for more. The wooden handle seems about to splinter. For a moment I wondered if I was going to get a shard if I grabbed the edge of the handle. 2 stars for the handle. The case feels comfortable, 5 stars for the effort, 3…

Real value - not for beginners

I was very pleased with the value of this shaver. As stated in the manufacturer's description, the razor has been professionally sharpened. My guess is that it was sharpened to 8000 which means it took 100 passes on a polish filled buffing belt to prime it for a shave and 50-75 passes on a clean leather belt to prime it for a shave. It took about 1 hour to complete these finishing works. I've been shaving with it for about a week now, and according to the firmness it claims, it holds the blade…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet
