I have several poodles with long ears and I bought these to keep their ears off food bowls and they work great. Not sure if they will be useful outside to keep them warm as they are quite stretchy and if my poodles shake their heads enough they fall over. I bought a medium size for my standard poodle and a small size for my mini poodle.

I only bought them for a photo shoot so I don't know how durable and warm they are. But boy are they cute. I had to experiment with sizes; The small size was technically correct, but it was actually too tight and therefore not pretty. Then I got the media and it was perfect. My dogs are twelve and seventeen pounds and the setting was perfect. However, if your dog wears it all the time, a smaller size might be better as it is more likely to stay in place. I give 5 stars even though I sent the product back because it was too small for my dog. I previously bought a medium size that was slightly larger so I went for the small. Small is very small so it didn't work. I will order a different material and just sew in a fold to shrink it a bit. I have a basset hound and in winter his ears get very cold and even freeze when it's damp or the ground is wet. He doesn't seem to mind wearing it - seems to know it will keep his ears warm. My dog is a Labrador/Asterian/Dalmatian mix. She weighs about 60 pounds and the neck is about 18 inches and not too tight. I originally bought her a medium sized Zoo Snood panda bear, but it was too small to fit over my head and didn't stretch enough. But it was well made and so cute I ordered a large one.
