This is my first brand new jointer. I had no rust on mine when it arrived. It was packaged nicely with lots of grease. After a couple hours cleaning and assembling it looks great. I ran about 20 board feet of 4/4 cherry today after finishing the setup. It left an outstanding cut on the face and edge of each board. Thus is my second shop fox machine and I am impressed again. My only complaint would be the same as one other review/ the power switch tower is packaged inside the base with the motor. Mine was wedged in and a small area of paint was damaged. I don't think this is a big deal, it is in my garage after all. The machine functions great though. My disclaimer: I don't run a production shop. I am just a guy who likes to make noise and saw dust in his garage. I don't claim to be an expert, so this is just my opinion of this machine.
