Review on BOSTITCH FN1664K 16-Gauge Straight Finish Nail Gun by Huntsville Rawson

Picked this up from a local big-box hardware store for a project. I'm rather disappointed and will be returning it.My biggest gripe is that the nail depth adjustment doesn't do anything. I'm driving nails into soft-wood (yellow pine mostly) and even on the lowest pressure setting and the least drive-depth it's still over-driving the nail so bad that I can't see the head of the nail. This really came to head (pun intended) when trying to nail some 1/8" hard-board on the back of a book-shelf. It was driving the nails 100% through the hardboard and burying them deep into the shelves. That's a problem, a BIG problem. The only way I could keep the nails from over-driving was to back the pressure down to 60 psi, have a very light hand to allow the gun to recoil back a bit more, and use the longest nails I had (2 1/2"). The problem in doing that was that the piston doesn't reset at 60 psi so I found myself dry-firing a lot, and 2 1/2" nails are overkill and a greater risk of shooting out the side (of which many did).The other main problem is that the push-safety sticks. So I push the nail gun up against my work-piece, drive a nail, then pull it away from the work-piece and I can fire a nail off into the air just by bumping the trigger. That is a major safety concern. I had to manually reset the safety mechanism after driving each nail.The nice things about this nail-gun, like anti-dryfire, easy loading, selectable bump/sequential firing can all be found on other, better quality guns. After doing extensive research I've settled on the Dewalt 51256K or the Senco FinishPro32.
