We live in a semi-rural area and have a septic tank that's very expensive to repair or replace, so we're watching what's going down the drain. We only crave water, but life happens, cooking happens, and there can be lots of little bits that end up in the sink. We have always used sink strainers. The one we used must have become feline because it was no longer doing its job. I looked around and ordered these. Wow what a difference. As you can see from the photos, the outer rim is thicker and more durable. The net holds up better. It also keeps those small bits from slipping under the rim and flying down the drain. It's a bit smaller than other filters we've used in the past, but that's not a problem for us.
