Extension Cord Review

I'm surprised that GE is announcing specifications for this extension cord without disclosing the actual characteristics of the cord: 1) The cord has three jacks on the end, two on one side of the outlet box and one on top the other side. This makes the cable suitable for a typical computer power supply on one side and two standard plugs on the other side. 2) The wiring is 16 AWG, so the whole cable can handle 1625W. 3) As mentioned, the plug itself is polarized, as are the jacks. Therefore, make sure that your wall outlet is polarized as well, as the plug will not fit into old outlets, as is common in old houses. 4) As shown in the figure, the fork itself is at a 45Β° angle. Thus, the line exits the outlet at an angle, rather than going straight down, up, or sideways from the outlet. I'm not sure why this is a good thing, but it eliminates any possibility of the line going through another wall outlet. The plug is as flush with the outlet as possible, allowing you to slide the table against the wall without bending the plug. 5) The cable comes with a plastic cap that snaps into place on one side. You'll need a flat blade or screwdriver to pry it out without breaking your nail. 6) The entire assembly is white. A good extension cord is 6 feet longβ€”quite short for an extension cord, but perfect for floor-level outlets. down to, say, your desktop.
