Review on 🔌 Cable Matters 50 Pack Keystone Punch Down Kit by Julian Perkins

So I ordered two packs of 50 and used up most of them. I haven't had any dropouts and when I tested them with a good line tester they showed great results. I've used them with Cable Matters Cat6, 23AWG, solid wire. The punch down stand really helped stabilize the connector when it was inserted (I didn't usually have a good hard surface nearby to hold the connector, but holding the connector in the stand and in my hand worked great) . ). As a punching tool type, I would recommend the Krone type. Google "Krone Punch Block History Germany" and look at the pictures and read the articles, you will see that the design is Krone (45 degree contact grooves) and not 110 (90 degree contact grooves). Here's what I did. I pulled on the inner cord in the cable until I shortened the cable slightly longer than the socket (Figure 1). I removed the sheath and trimmed the middle strand to just fit the socket. Why? The core helps keep the wires separated in the connector and helps with strain relief (Figure 2). I placed the connector on the stand, trying to maintain the twist and separation, and used my finger to insert the wires into the correct slot (Figure 3). .I used an uncut Krone blade (left) with a thin edge pointing into the socket (to push no more than the intended wire) (Fig 4). I pressed each wire into place - all wires should snap to the bottom of the slot (Figure 5). Then I flipped the Krone blade over and used the cutting edge to lightly trim the edge of each wire - they turned out great (Figure 6). Put on the dust cover and you're good to go. It's probably not the most efficient process, but for me the extra steps and care made for great connections.
