I was hoping this mic clip would be identical to the one I ordered from an online music store a few years ago. It looks and functions the same, but the Revain version omits the threaded metal insert that screws into the mic stand. While the threaded plastic case works well in the Revain version, its durability and reliability are strictly consumer-grade.

Yes, it's a "big" holder, but it doesn't hold wireless microphones well. They are too fat to fit. And that's for the mic, which I don't want to run out of at all. It takes a little effort to "feed" it through the mount. This is not a quick push and pull holder. So if you have a thinner mic and just want your mic to stay in place, this should be really great.

I found them to be ordinary microphone clips. I have a wide mic with a battery (an old Rhode NT 2) which is a larger diameter tube mic. It is quite wide as it supports 9V battery active mode. I can adjust it as the material is a bit stretchy but it takes quite a bit of snagging to get it in there. If the material was a little softer it would work much better, but the larger diameter is what I expected with the "big barrel" description.

I've never seen a microphone clip without a threaded metal insert. So didn't think to check this, although in hindsight one of the pictures of the product clearly shows that the thread is tapped directly into the plastic material of the clip. So I'm deducting two stars for lack of reliability. And compared to other mic clips I have that have the same elliptical design, this one doesn't hold the mic very securely. I bought this holder to use with my wireless microphones (AKG and Senheiser). Both taper from 1" at the base to 1-1/2" at the top. When the item arrived I tried on the size and it was too small. I dropped the mount in boiling water for about 3 minutes (with the burner off) and then dried it. At this point it was nice and flexible and fit easily around wireless mics, so I put it on top of one of them and let it cool for about 1/2 hour. It has hardened and is now perfect for microphones.
