First of all, Video Features:
- simply amazing video. even better than Mark 2 if you don't go beyond ISO 2022.
- the ability to shoot at 50 frames per second.
- Normal HDMI output with normal output during recording (in 5D Mk2 and 60D everything is very deplorable in this regard)
- Pleasant ergonomics due to the fact that the 7d was initially pushed towards video functions, as evidenced by a separate "Start-Stop" button.
- Ability to rotate aperture during recording (handy for reportage shooting when there is no time to stop recording or rotate ISO)
- Recording mode 1920-1080 24p and 25p (NOT 30p (!) like Mark 2). That is, immediately cine framerate and more native PAL and not foreign and inconvenient NTSC.
- lies in the hand very comfortably, unlike the 3- (550d) and 2- (60d, 50d) -digit younger brothers. In this regard, it is absolutely similar to Gloom 2.
- very good color reproduction due to which video cameras for 150-200 thousand (for example, Panasonic HVX-204) smoke well aside. I've seen better only with SONY DSR-400 for 450 thousand, but this is a TV camera with a low resolution for cinema and an old 4-3 aspect ratio.
- again, unlike camcorders, real 1080p progressive scan (a stone in the garden SONY A580, A55 with 1080i format, which is only suitable for shooting trips to Thailand and for other "home videos")
- the best ratio "price / quality / functionality" and I think this applies not only to the video component.
Advantages of "PHOTO" (I won’t note much, since I don’t take pictures much, leaving this work to more competent people in this regard):
- Being also the owner of the Nikon D700, I immediately say that the 7d has one advantage . namely, with budget Nikon optics (via an adapter), for some reason it gives a softer picture.
- works great with Canon 50mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.8 if you don't try to shoot with autofocus.
- with a good memory card, continuous shooting can shoot continuously for a very long time. Apparently, the second Digik4 is primarily used here.
- Convenient viewfinder.
