Installation documentation is pretty good

Installed on a 2017 Dodge Journey Crossroads. The installation documentation is pretty good. This wiring harness connects to your existing tail light wiring for easy installation. This requires a power source, my Journey has a 12 volt accessory port so I just plugged it into this vise and ran a new wire to the battery. The only negative is that the cable to the other light is too short to make a light. I had to splice a piece of wire to make it work. Not a big deal but I didn't have to, 8-12…

Worked well for 2 years, then the control unit broke.

I am a car mechanic. All connections were soldered, wires routed correctly. After 2 years, the control unit failed, causing the trailer's left rear light to not work. I used a digital multimeter to pinpoint the source. The right tail light (yellow wire) detects voltage in the control box and no voltage comes out. I only tow a small camper 3-5 times a year. To be honest, the installation process was straightforward and plugs straight into the factory wiring with minimal fuss, but the reliability

Not for novice installation.

As I said, this is not for beginners. If you have mechanical skills, this is an easy setup. If you're having trouble changing the time on your microwave or alarm clock, have someone set it up as it requires some understanding of how things work. That being said, I didn't have the issue with the short wiring others have mentioned going from the driver's side taillight to the passenger's side taillight. In fact, I had an extra wire. I ran the wire through the bumper booster and it worked like a…

After all the installation work, the wiring harness didn't work.

The lighting did not work when wiring and connecting to the boat trailer. I assumed it was probably a problem with the trailer headlights, but the trailer headlights worked on another vehicle. Checking the wires with a DMM, it was found that the power and ground to the black box of this harness were fine, but the wires coming out of the black box had no power. So it's an issue with some connections or circuitry in the box sealed with waterproof sealant that I can't access to fix it. Generally…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Take your time External Accessories

I'm starting out with wiring cars electrically so it wasn't as difficult as it could be. I installed this on a 2018 Journey GT. The instructions were good, the length of the cables was more than sufficient, the connectors connected without problems, in general I am satisfied. I used various mounting tapes as well as self-tapping screws. The included splices are a little big for the wire, but if you strip the wire longer and fold it up, it takes up extra space. After we taped the area with…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Without machine

Worked best in exterior accessories

I installed this on a 2015 Dodge Journey and it ran fine. I didn't have the issue with the short cable going to the passenger side like the others, I had a lot of cables so I think they fixed that issue. I also used heat shrink connectors instead of the cheaper ones that came with the kit. It's all plug and play, except that a power cable is connected to the positive cable under the hood that goes to the battery. I went through the rear wheel arch on the driver's side, then followed the e-brake

Poorly designed product.

I bought a Curt receiver and this Curt cable set and have both installed now. There are two main problems with this set of wires. The green wire we were supposed to run under the car's bumper to the right taillight was about a foot shorter to get the job done. Also, the warranty and instructions say that we need to mount the converter box in the car. But there are no instructions for this. On my car, there is no way to get inside the car from the left tail light without removing the internal…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

So here is the truth.

Summary: It does what it says on the tin and now I can hook up the light to my 15 Journey. longer version. This pendant works if you have some skills and you are not an idiot. There is a cable that goes from the driver's side to the passenger's side and is about 8 inches shorter. This is easily remedied by adding a short jumper to get the length needed to connect the plug to the light. Likewise. Whoever at CURT decided it was a good idea to use the cheapest zip ties they can find, I hope you…
