SELF CENTERING - Just twist the Jig and it will will be perfectly centered to drill a straight hole. MADE FOR FLOATING SHELF BRACKETS - This dowel self centering jig is especially made for invisible shelf supports. DRILL BIT INCLUDED - A 1/2" wide and 9.8" long drill bit is included so you have all you need to drill holes for brackets that are both 6" and 8" and below. JIG SECURING SCREWS - Just screw in the included screws to secure the Jig on the shelf so you can use both hands for drilling. HEAVY DUTY - Made of pure metal with aluminium body and hardened steel guide.

Great for floating shelf projects, but the drill can be a bit more aggressive.

Self-centering design makes drilling holes for floating shelves much easier. Easy to assemble and use, but the included drill bit wasn't as aggressive as it should be. I used 1 1/2 thick white pine boards for my floating shelf project. The first 1-2 inches of the cut was fine, but after that it was very difficult to get the full depth. A little patience helps!

This product works well but has a small design flaw that users may not encounter unless drilling through very hard wood. Drill bits and socket wrenches are made of two different metals. The drill bit and collar heat up as you drill, causing a slight change in the size of the two metals. As a result, the bridle gets caught in the collar. New and improved? Hand and Power Tools

Overall, this guide helped us complete a project we couldn't have done without, BUT! The screws holding the bracket broke at the head on the first try. Maybe it was an accident. I tried the second screw - the same. While my husband was trying to remove the broken screws from the shelf, I contacted the support team who accused me of pushing too hard. The jig works well, ditch the included drill bit and buy a 12 1/2 " drill bit before proceeding.
