Does Not Provide Advertised Power

The product seems to work just fine for data transfers only but after testing multiple connectors from my power supply I could only get a reading of 5 watts and 966 milliamps on the USB C connection that is advertised as provding 5v 3 Amps. I reached out to the manufacturer and they stated that "the card cannot support 5V/2.4A or 5V/3A as it does not support any charging protocol."I was able purchase the Ableconn PU31-1A1C with the same chipset and once that product was connected to the power…

Pros
  • Fast speeds and quality construction.
Cons
  • Didn't work at all.

Card seems fine. Support is terrible.

Reviewed: USB 3.1 Gen 2 adapter. The actual hardware seems all right, although installing this on an older (Core i7 gen 2) system appeared to cause boot failures every other boot; the system would power on, then almost immediately back off. I think I've got this solved; I spent a while playing with various VRM and CPU voltage regulation options. (It's a "gaming" board.) The card's not powering anything--it's connected to a self-powered HDD dock and nothing else--but I suspect it was…

Cons
  • May not improve overall performance for all users

Works great in Linux Mint 20.04

Although the instructions say it's not supported on Linux, it does work just fine. Mint auto-loaded the drivers with no problem. Also, the instructions say that it requires the SATA to MOLEX power adapter has to be connected, it does not unless you need to run a USB-powered device. I'm just using it to connect to an externally powered USB drive, so it was a good surprise. Dell R710 doesn't have anywhere to plug the connector in, so wasn't sure if it would work.Drive is running fantastically…

Kept my machine from booting

I built a high end PC with serious gaming components and couldn't get it to boot. I started taking out components one by one and once I took this thing out it booted fine. I'm sending it back for a refund.

Pros
  • It does what it says on the box.
Cons
  • Couldn't get the speed I wanted dont currently use.

started a fire at first power on

Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.1 PCI Express Card. it's easy to install they said. it'll be real fast they said. the engineers obviously failed to consider the speeds of USB C when they designed this thing. within 10 seconds or so this thing over heated and caught fire. it was a good run, but $20 bucks goes farther @ da club - that's where my spend will be next time.first power up tried with the included adapter cable. it started a fire and melted off the insulation. Nothing appeared damaged on the…

Didn't fit well, hard to install and died in a week

This was a piece of junk. How can you make a pc card that doesn't really fit? I gave them an extra star becuse they did reach out to me to solve the issue but I'd already replaced it with one from Rosewill that fit and worked and hasn't stopped working - no customer support needed.

Pros
  • Internal Components
Cons
  • May cause computer to run slower

Works with Oculus Quest Link

I bought this for Oculus Quest link to PC. It didn't work at first, but keep in mind that this USB C port is not bi-directional. It matters which way you plug it in. If it doesn't detect the quest, try flipping the connector over and reconnecting. You may need to do this on both the PC port and Oculus port. Worked great once I did that.

Pros
  • User Friendly
Cons
  • May require additional drivers to function properly

Burned instantly. - my new review

As soon as I turned on the computer, the magic smoke was released. Looks like there is a solder bridge on that chip. That's my review!

Pros
  • PCI-E to USB3. 1 card
Cons
  • May not be compatible with older motherboards

Pros
  • Perfect to connect oculus quest

Not a ASMedia 1142 but a 1242

I was looking for a ASMedia 1142 PCIE card. Although it's printed on the chip ASMdeia 1142 it comes up in Windows ASMedia 1242. For most ppl this isn't a problem, I happen to WFH as a USB compatibility tester and needed that PID. That isn't only compliant. The 1242 should function great for your USB A or C needs.

Pros
  • ‎Inateck
Cons
  • May experience connectivity issues with some devices

Very happy Linux user.

Installed in Linux machine. My only complaint is that the terminals in the "molex" end of the SATA power cable were loose (contacts didn't match housing). It took a little wiggling to get it inspected. I'll probably replace the cable.Powered it up, and I had two new ports!

Pros
  • ‎4.76 x 3.23 x 0.71 inches
Cons
  • May cause interference with WiFi signal

Awesome card in my review

Using an older Haswell platform, I had no USB 3.1 or USB type C ports. I have an external SSD and when hooked up to the type C port on this card, it maxes out the transfer rates as long as the transfers come from my internal SSD. The USB type A transfers quickly, but not as fast.

Pros
  • Stable Power Supply
Cons
  • May require professional installation for some users

Only works at USB 2.0 speeds

Installed this, hoping to use it with my Oculus Quest, but it only supports USB 2.0 speeds. This is with Windows 10, with all updates, latest drivers and I've tried several PCI slots in my PC. no difference.Unusable for me.

Pros
  • USB3. 1 Gen 2
Cons
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 may not make a significant difference in speed for all users

Great for Windows 10 and 2018 iPad Pros

This installed easily and was recognized instantly by Windows 10. Coming with a SATA power cable was a plus. Got this to speed up data transfers and provide power to my 2018 11" 512 GB and 12.9" 1TB iPad Pros. 10GB data transfer speeds and power to both iPad Pros work great while connected to both 3.1 USB C and Type A ports. Couldn't be happier.

Pros
  • ‎0.01 ounces
Cons
  • Card may become dislodged during transport or relocation of computer

Devices still have issues, and speed isn’t the best. I’m not sure if it is just my mother board or this card. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • I installed it recognized it tested it and that's about it
Cons
  • Type C port may not work with all devices
