Revain's description says the maximum drive size is 3TB, but I checked KingWin and they said it supports the latest ones 6 drives TB. You're right! I use it with Seagate 6TB and it works great for Drobo Thunderbolt RAID backup on Mac Pro. USB isn't as fast as a Thunderbolt dock, but since it's used for the occasional SuperDuper cloning, that's not a problem, and the EZ Dock's price is hard to beat. Consider me very pleased. Incidentally, I wanted to use a 6TB Seagate in a NewerTech Voyager Qโ€ฆ

Good rescue for hard drive accessories

A few months ago I thought the hard drive in my iMac was dead. He was only one year old. Apple sent out a review but I figured I had time to fix it before it fails. I took it to the Genius Bar in the Apple Store and was told it was impossible to recover. I asked them if I could keep the old drive but they said "that's not their policy". I told them there was something very valuable about it. So they let me take it. I've been looking around to see if I can find something to access the failedโ€ฆ

Low quality. Bought 2, 1 defective. But easy to use.

This is a genuine disk cloning device and I bought it to backup my desktop that I use for work and it has a disk bay where I can easily insert the drive from the front can eject. Creating a full backup is really easy, and if the drive I'm using fails, I can just pop in the backup drive and be back up to speed in about 30 seconds. I can also clone the drive and convert it to a another desktop in another house, and BAM! I can pick up where I left off on another computer. So these things come inโ€ฆ

eSATA not working (UPDATE: working)

When I received it, it was working intermittently. In fact, it stopped completely after 30 days. Although USB still works. But then again, I didn't buy this for a USB connection. UPDATE: Upgrade to 4 stars. Doc works. The problem was with the user. I cloned the hard drive in the dock and let Acronis shut down the computer automatically. After that, the computer no longer saw the hard drive. It took 4 days but finally I realized that Windows 7 does not automatically assign a drive letter to theโ€ฆ

No, I will return it and then consider my options.

After the package arrived, I connected everything. It worked fine on a USB 3 port, but the lights on the drive that wasn't there stayed on. The top and bottom lights flashed when the drive was being accessed, but those were the lights for drive 1, which flashed when the drive was in bay two. Turn off my computer overnight and then turn off the drive bay. In the morning when I first turn on the drive bay and then turn on the computer again, I'm greeted with a "USB device not recognized" message.

Pros
  • A dream comes true
Cons
  • Too stupid

I've been using the portable version of this for many years with no problems. This worked for days until I cloned a drive that failed (disconnected from the computer) and now won't connect to my computer. It tries to connect/disconnect again but doesn't show up in Device Manager. Works with other computers. I'm working with their tech support who replied but didn't read my initial report of what I tried. I may have to try a different device/replacement. UPDATE 1: Others had the same problemโ€ฆ

Nice dock, but maybe not *really* hot swappable

I ordered a 2 bay USB 3.0 B power dock just to temporarily use two old same brand external drive cases to replace those that have failed in the same way. Basically in the old cases the connection to the computer would randomly drop which actually caused one of my hard drives to end up with a corrupted partition table as the computer was trying to write to the hard drive when the connection dropped. (Note to self: cheap is cheap. And it was.) I was basically certain that the problem was with the
